Mr Ken-Ichiro Natsume and Dr Ulrike Till of WIPO met the 70 students of the Joint Masters/LL.M.

The Centre for Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition (CIIPC)–IPR Chair, National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi), organised an interaction session with a distinguished delegation from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The delegation comprised Mr. Ken-Ichiro Natsume, Assistant Director General, WIPO, and Dr. Ulrike Till, Director, IP and Frontier Technologies Division, WIPO. The session brought together the visiting dignitaries and a cohort of 70 students enrolled in the WIPO–NLUD–IPO Joint Master’s/LL.M. in IP Law and Management Programme.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Eashan Ghosh, who extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and highlighted the ongoing and fruitful collaboration between WIPO and NLU Delhi through the joint academic programme. He underscored the importance of this partnership in facilitating knowledge exchange, fostering academic engagement, and providing students with international exposure to contemporary developments in intellectual property law and management.

During the interaction, Mr. Natsume encouraged students to approach intellectual property from a global perspective, emphasising the importance of understanding intellectual property frameworks in an increasingly interconnected world. Dr. Till invited participants to broaden their understanding of frontier technologies beyond artificial intelligence (AI) and reflect on the broader technological landscape and its implications for intellectual property. The discussions offered students valuable insights into emerging developments in the field and encouraged them to engage critically with the evolving relationship between intellectual property, innovation, and technology.

The interactive session provided an enriching platform for students to engage with leading international experts, exchange perspectives, and gain a deeper understanding of global developments in intellectual property and frontier technologies. The discussions were particularly valuable in highlighting the expanding scope of intellectual property in response to technological advancements and the need for a broader, forward-looking approach to innovation and its governance.

Following the interaction, the visiting dignitaries met with Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Paul, Registrar, NLU Delhi, along with Mr. Eashan Ghosh and Ms. Nishtha Sharma. During the meeting, Prof. (Dr.) Paul expressed her appreciation for WIPO’s continued collaboration with NLU Delhi. The meeting also reaffirmed the importance of the ongoing partnership in strengthening academic engagement and creating meaningful learning opportunities for students. A token of appreciation was presented to the dignitaries in recognition of their visit and continued association with the University.

The session concluded on a note of appreciation and enthusiasm, reflecting the value of sustained institutional collaboration in advancing intellectual property education and fostering global perspectives among students. CIIPC–IPR Chair, NLU Delhi, extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Ken-Ichiro Natsume and Dr. Ulrike Till for their presence and insightful engagement with the students. The visit further strengthened the collaborative relationship between WIPO and NLU Delhi and reaffirmed their shared commitment to enriching intellectual property education through international cooperation and knowledge exchange.
